A 61 year old man of Black African-Caribbean origin attends a hypertension review after elevated clinic and ambulatory blood pressure readings. PMH. Hyperlipidaemia, gout. DH. Atorvastatin 20 mg PO nightly, allopurinol 300 mg PO daily. SH. Ex-smoker.

Temperature 36.8°C, HR 78/min and regular, Clinic BP 162/96 mmHg

Sodium 141 mmol/L (133-146)
Potassium 4.1 mmol/L (3.5-5.3)
Creatinine 88 micromol/L (45-90)
eGFR > 60 mL/min/1.73 m²

Ambulatory blood pressure monitoring daytime average: 151/94 mmHg. A diagnosis of hypertension is made.
